Trust us, you do not come off as sophisticated because you have an old record cabinet. Retro appliances are like statement pieces: if you have one, then just make sure it's not in the way. Hang onto small things, like Gameboys or Walkmen, but don't be afraid to re-donate stuff to the thrift store because you don't use it anymore.
