Hef's Allowance System Was Demeaning
Hef would offer his Playmates $1,000 a week as an allowance for "clothes." However, he would regularly demean the Playmates by making them wait in line and he would determine whether they were "worthy" or not. He would often refuse to pay out his allowances if he felt that the individuals did not meet his "standards for employment."
