Hef would strategically place a cardboard cutout of himself in unreachable places to seem as if he was there at all times. This may sound creepy, but his guests were privy to it usually. The cardboard cutout made several cameos in photographs over the years, and you probably wouldn't have guessed that it wasn't the real Hef if you saw the photos connected to the cutout.
