Not sure what a stalagmite is? Not many are. The stalagmite is a rock formation found rising from the floor of a cave. This happens when the droppings from the ceiling accumulate and create a visual like this. Once cut open, they almost look like some kind of curved wood!

No, you're not looking at a petri dish under a microscope. This is actually a collection of cords that were cut open. Notice how each one is filled with multiple wires and coatings. It certainly looks like something scientific is going on beneath the surface, but it's just electronics.
