Ilana Glazer is on the journey to motherhood.
Glazer, 33, shared a photo on Instagram this past Wednesday showing off her growing baby bump. Glazer confirmed that she is expecting her first child with husband David Rooklin; the parents-to-be tied the knot over three years ago in February 2017.
The Broad City star noted that her pregnancy coincides with her latest role in False Positive, a horror film centering around a couple who undergo bizarre and sinister IVF treatments with a renowned fertility specialist.
"This was not supposed to happen this way, but it's just so eerie and cosmically funny that it has," Glazer said. "I'm lucky; I'm in control, unlike our protagonist. I don't feel like I'm having the rug pulled out from under me in any way."
"I'm not afraid to ask a billion questions," Glazer continued. "There are certain trends in society of how pregnancy should look — the 'shoulda coulda wouldas' that are put on women all the time but are so amplified in pregnancy. I'm specifically seeking out the most spiritually healthy and welcoming experience."
Glazer explained that her own pregnancy led her to further explore the political subtext of False Positive.
"The process of birth is so traumatic and painful, and yet it's the most miraculous, surreal, real thing. It's like this perfect canvas for the paradox that is our country," she said.
