Frontline Worker Gets Free Wedding Thanks to Dozens of Donors

A frontline worker in Atlanta  thought her wedding would be a simple affair, but she never imagined all of her wildest dreams would come true. Nikita Horton was gifted the fairytale wedding she had always enviosened after one of the hardest years of her life. In addition to the pandemic, Horton also dealt with a collection of personal health issues and even lost a loved one. As an ICU social worker during 2020, this was obviously on top of a lot of other daily heartbreak.

Horton has entered a contest that gave free weddings to healthcare workers who had to postpone their special day in light of the modern pandemic. Thanks to the employees at Miss Milly's Dream Wedding Giveaway and 24 additional donors, Horton got married in the way she had always imagined on January 17, 2021. The best part was the price...which was nothing!

Horton donned a white mermaid gown while now-husband Archer sported a dark green floral suit.

"This was meant to be, it was written in the stars, it was destiny," Horton said in an interview with Fox 5 Atlanta.

"Seeing deaths is a regular thing for me, people are here one day, gone the next," said the frontline worker, "Not having the opportunity to be with their families and also dealing with my own personal health issues was kind of like 'Woo, that's kind of scary.'"

Horton also said that she was able to enjoy the day with her loved ones and her dearly beloved. It will truly be a wedding she and everyone else who pitched in will never possibly forget.
