President Joe Biden and the first lady, Dr. Jill Biden, have welcomed a new furry friend into their lives, a German shepherd puppy named Commander.
The Bidens are partial to the breed, as Commander is their third German shepherd. After losing 13-year-old Champ in June, and having to move Major to live with a family friend while they're in the White House, the first family was looking to fill the dog-shaped hole in their hearts this holiday season.
President Biden shared a photo of their new addition on his official Twitter account with the caption, "Welcome to the White House, Commander." The three-month-old pup arrived at the White House on December 20th and was a gift from the president's brother, James Biden, and sister-in-law, Sara Biden.
The Bidens are also planning to welcome a cat in the new year. Here's to hoping that Commander makes a smooth transition to his new elite life and high-profile family.
