Delta's New Pet Carrier Makes Traveling With Pets Even Easier

If you've ever flown with a pet and thought never again, you might be in luck.

In the event that Fido doesn't meet the requirements for a cabin seat, it can be stressful to ponder the state of your beloved pet in the cargo hold. Fortunately, Delta Airlines has proposed a solution.

Earlier in the week, Delta announced its brand new CarePod pet carrier, which will keep pet owners connected with their cat or dog during air travel. The pet carrier updates fur parents in real-time about the state of their animals. It comes equipped with a spill-proof hydration system that automatically refills, as well as "industrial-strength" walls to protect your pet from sudden temperature changes.

Since 2018, Delta has been tirelessly crafting the CarePod, and it's finally going to pay off. The CarePod will be available at eight U.S. airports, including Los Angeles, New York (JFK and LaGuardia), Boston, Minneapolis, Atlanta, San Francisco, and West Palm Beach. However, it'll cost you a pretty penny—$850, to be exact.

"Continuous innovation is in Delta’s DNA and the launch of the CarePod pet travel carrier, an industry first, is an example of us seeking out innovative partnerships and looking at ways to improve the customer experience throughout all parts of their journey," said Shawn Cole, Vice President of Delta Cargo. "As the only airline to offer this premium pet travel solution, it represents a significant improvement for the millions of people who want to travel with their four-legged family members."
