He played a murderer in To Die For, but his other films found little success.  Movies such as U Turn (1997), Inventing the Abbotts (1997), and Clay Pigeons (1998) were rated poorly. It wasn't until his performance in Gladiator that the young actor earned any recognition for his roles.
