Golf Pro Patrick Landers and Girlfriend Killed In Mexico Where They'd Been Quarantining

More than 20 shots were fired into the window of New York golfer Patrick Landers' car in Mexico where he and his girlfriend had been quarantining. They were killed on a shot in Juarez in broad daylight. The 32-year-old professional golfer and father was staying in Mexico with his girlfriend, physical education teacher Karla Bacca, where she is from. She started teaching at an elementary school in Juarez in the fall of 2019.

According to police reports, the couple was shot moments after they left a cellphone store and had gotten into Landers' Jeep. Motives for their murders are still under investigation, and a suspect has not been taken into custody.

Landers' family in New York are mourning his and Bacca's tragic deaths remotely while they also quarantine themselves during the COVID-19 crisis.

Friend Adam Howe told reporters that Landers was a “good man” and “a great father” who loved his son Cameron. “He loved him more than anything in the world."

Howe continued to say that Landers loved to travel, loved his dog, and had a quick sense of humor. A golf tournament in Landers' memory is in the process of being planned, and all proceeds will go to his son, Cameron.

Police have yet to make any arrests in the case.
